He sent me a letter
Today I received a letter in the mail from a dear sweet lady that goes to my church. It didn’t have a return address on it but I knew exactly who it was from because this was not the first. I have gotten a few letters from her over the past year and knowing it most likely would contain scripture that I so desperatly need, I opened it with haste and read it out loud to my husband and children who just happened to be in the room at the time. These are just a few words that she had written:
Dear Beverly, just a quick note to let you know that I have prayed for the land God will supply for your ranch. In a previous letter I sent you Deuteronomy 8:7-8 and my prayer continues with Deuteronomy 8:9-10 “A land wherein thou shalt eat bread without scarceness. Thou shalt not lack anything in it…..When thou hast eaten and are full, thou shalt bless the Lord thy God for the good land which He hath given thee.” She goes on to say “I pray that Jesus will meet all your needs, both spiritual as well as physical. I pray he provide you with plenty of food for your family and that your relationship with Jesus will become more intimate. I pray that the presence of the Holy Spirit will be evident as soon as people arrive at your land. I pray that you will give thanks and praise Jesus for all he has done for you.” She ends with my life verse Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and he shall direct thy paths.”
Indeed this is just what I needed. You see, I have a weakness..reasoning. It is more previlant during times when I’m waiting on the Lord; like now. My prayer for the past three days has been “Lord, help me not to reason with myself. Reveal yourself to us; give us assurance that we are on the right path”.
